Pool repairs in the pipeline

Last week we received the sort of news dreaded by pool managers the world over, we’ve sprung a leak!

Well, it’s not quite a leak yet, but a fault with a major inlet pipe that pumps water into our warm water pools is cracking and in need of urgent, major repairs.

To fix the pipe we have to close our two warm water pools for three days while we carry out repairs.

That means the 25 metre recreational pool and the leisure pool will be closed on Monday 5 February, and we hope to have the works completed and both pools back open by Thursday 8 February.

Lap swimmers will still have access to the 50 metre lap pool, which will be temporarily divided into two 25 metre lap pools with a designated play area for competent swimmers.

The repairs have been timed to be completed before the start of this year’s Learn to Swim lessons, which begin on Tuesday 13 February, and after the popular School Holiday Splash activities.

  • The pool café opening hours will change from 6.30am to 4 pm from Monday 5 February until Friday 9 February.
  • Our Shallow Water Aqua Aerobics classes have been cancelled for Tuesday 6 February and Thursday 8 February but our Deep Water Aqua Aerobics classes are still on. Check our live timetable to find a class time that suits you.
  • Our gym facilities will remain open.

We appreciate the importance of our warm water pools to the Hobart community as venues for water sports, therapy and fun.
