All members must adhere to the Centre's Conditions of Entry.

Participation in Activites and Services

Centre activities can be undertaken in relative safety, however all aspects of physical activity in the centre or otherwise have inherent risk. We recommend that anybody starting exercise for the first time, or returning to exercise after a period of inactivity, consults with a General Practitioner to discuss their medical history, current medical status and exercise limitations before commencing.

We further recommend that all participants consult with Fitness Centre staff for an initial consultation.

When entering the Centre and Participating in Activities or Services provided or utilising equipment:

  • You acknowledge that you are in good physical condition and have no reason or impairment that might prevent the safe use of the equipment or services provided by DKHAC.
  • You will monitor your physical condition at all times and exercise at a level that is appropriate to your health and any medical advice you have obtained.
  • You will comply with Centre requirements and follow all staff instructions.

Refunds

All requests for refunds in the first 48 hours of a new membership will be honoured, less any membership start fee and the cost of any fitness services that may have been already rendered. These requests must be received in writing using the standard DKHAC membership cancellation form. Memberships are not eligible for refunds after the first 48 hours and are not transferable.

Direct Debit Memberships

Direct Debit Membership payments are ongoing, until the member cancels their membership in accordance with the conditions contained in this agreement and on the DKHAC Direct Debit Request form.

Members may elect to suspend their membership contract at any time, for a minimum period of 7 days, provided that the membership contract is financial at the time of suspension.

Members must specify a suspension start and finish date. To suspend a membership, the member must complete an application for suspension form and lodge it with The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre prior to the commencement of their suspension. Suspensions will not apply retrospectively. Applications for suspensions will only be accepted in writing.

Cancellation of Direct Debit Memberships

To cancel a direct debit membership the member must complete a direct debit cancellation form, and lodge it with The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre no later than 3 working days prior to the next debiting date. After lodging you will be provided a duplicate copy of this cancellation form for your records - cancellations cannot be accepted by telephone. Cancellation forms received later than 3 working days prior to the debiting date will not be processed until the following debit period.

A cancelled direct debit membership will remain current until the end of the paid in advance component of the membership; refunds are not available.

Direct Debit Membership cancellations are not entitled to a membership refund or credit for suspension days.

Administration

Members will be given one (1) month’s notice of any changes to the membership terms and conditions. Advice will be posted on the Members Noticeboard.

Lost cards will be issued for a nominal replacement fee as listed in The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre annual fees and charges document.

Misuse of centre equipment and misconduct may result in forfeit of membership.

Non financial members may have their membership cancelled without notice.

Changes to Membership Fees

Membership Fees are periodically reviewed and this review may give rise to changes in our applicable fees. You will be advised at least 30 days prior to any change in membership fees by the posting of a letter outlining the changes on the Members Noticeboard located adjacent to the Members change rooms. If you do not wish to accept an increase in your membership fees you may terminate your membership by completing a Direct Debit Cancellation Form at least 3 working days prior to the next Direct Debit period. If you do not wish to cancel your membership you will be required to pay any revised membership fees from the date from which the change becomes effective and your direct debit payments will be amended accordingly.
