SCHOOLS OFFICER – AQUATIC PROGRAMS
Permanent Part-Time 27.5hrs per week
This position forms part of the dynamic team at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. Working 27.5 hours per week, with program delivery requirements within school terms and school times (between 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday). We are looking for individuals who have the ability to deliver safe, fun and challenging aquatic education programs, and contribute to the further development of the aquatic team.
The successful candidate will be an active member of the team delivering the school swimming programs, provide information and support to Learn to Swim instructors, be the primary contact for all participating schools, be able to lock in events and ensure no conflicts in bookings, and roster the appropriate number of instructors for each program.
A track record in roles showing the ability to engage, motivate and supervise others, drive continuous improvement and having a strong customer focus will be viewed favourably.
The successful candidate will have current units of competency for skill set SISSS00112 – Swimming and Water Safety Teacher along with demonstrated experience in the administration and coordination of programs.

The Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre Swim and Aquatic Program welcomes interest from swim teachers who want to join our friendly and experienced team.

Infants classes for children between 6 months and 4 years old
After-school classes on Monday to Friday afternoons / Saturday mornings
Schools program from Monday to Friday during school hours
NDIS Special Needs classes throughout the week

Want to be a Lifeguard?
The Doone Kennedy Aquatic Centre Lifeguards are an integral part of ensuring safety in the Centre for all. The primary role of our Lifeguards is to undertake life guarding duties of all pools but also includes:
Supervising the public in use of the aquatic facilities to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment for members, guests and user groups and to respond to customer queries re the use of the aquatic facilities.
Pool rescue and/or provision of first aid attention when required.
Investigating and responding to any customer complaints to identify and address problems or potential problems which may affect the efficient operation of the Centre.
Performing water testing and maintaining accurate records in order to monitor correct levels of chemical dosing, water purification and temperature controls.
Setting up/packing up equipment for programs or events within the Centre.
General cleaning and maintenance of the aquatic facilities.
Assisting in the implementation of the Centre’s emergency management plan in the event of any accidents, incident or other situation that require enactment of the plan.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy, you do need the following qualifications:
Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate (Issues by Royal Life Saving Society) coupled with specialist knowledge in Life Saving and First Aid, Basic Work Health and Safety principles.
Understanding of, or ability to acquire, water purification standards in accordance with the legislative requirement.
A standard of health, fitness and physical capability sufficient to meet the requirements of the role.
Ability to demonstrate time management skills to manage own workload in a customer-focused environment.
Ability to work within established procedures, techniques and/or practices, take instruction and work with a minimum of supervision.
Well-developed communication and customer service skills and an ability to provide guidance to team members.
Current Drivers Licence, Working With Children and Police Check.
